Propylene oxide main uses is for raw material to make polyether polyols and propylene glycols. In recent decades the more modern direct oxidation route (HPPO) has taken over the market, with the advantages of lower investment cost and lower environmental impact. In the HPPO technology, propylene is reacted with hydrogen peroxide over a fixed bed catalyst, generating only PO and water.
Chematur’s technology for HPPO is based on a recently developed second-generation catalyst with improvements on catalyst lifetime, yield and selectivity.
Compared to alternative technologies, the less complicated and more selective chemistry in the direct oxidation route reduces the amount of chemicals involved, removing all co-products and lowering the environmental impact
